Six Scorched Roses: Characters, spicy chapters and summary
Six Scorched Roses by Carissa Broadbent synopsis/summary:
Six roses. Six vials of blood. Six visits to a vampire who could be her salvation… or her damnation.
Lilith has been dying since the day she was born. But while she long ago came to terms with her own imminent death, the deaths of everyone she loves is an entirely different matter. As her town slowly withers in the clutches of a mysterious god-cursed illness, she takes matters into her own hands.
Desperate to find a cure, Lilith strikes a bargain with the only thing the gods hate even more than her village: a vampire, Vale. She offers him six roses in exchange for six vials of vampire blood–the one hope for her town’s salvation.
But when what begins as a simple transaction gradually becomes something more, Lilith is faced with a terrifying realization: It’s dangerous to wander into the clutches of a vampire… and in a place already suffering a god’s wrath, more dangerous still to fall in love with one.
Six Scorched Roses is a standalone fantasy romance novella set in the world of the Crowns of Nyaxia series, perfect for those who love dark, romantic tales with bite and fans of Sarah J. Maas or Jennifer L. Armentrout.
Six Scorched Roses characters.
There are two main characters in Six Scorched Roses by Carissa Broadbent, narrated from FMC’s Lilith’s point of view, and a small supporting cast of characters
Main characters: Lilith and Vale
Lilith’s all brains, sharp edges, and moral gray zones, the kind of heroine who doesn’t just survive in a brutal world—she thrives, all while making tough choices.
Then there’s Vale, who’s as enigmatic and the epitome of a giant cinnamon roll. He’s the quiet force who complements Lilith’s fire perfectly, proving that sometimes the best matches are forged in blood and secrets.
Their story in Six Scorched Roses is a gorgeous standalone that gives you romance, heartbreak, and just enough world-building to make it feel like dessert after the main course. They might not be the focus of Oraya and Raihn’s chaos, but they’re the perfect bonus track—emotional, haunting, and a little bit magical.

Six Scorched Roses book review.
My rating: ★★★★☆
Short, sweet, and swoony! I loved the Beauty & the Beast vibes in this. And for being under 200 pages, this little gem managed to pack more punch than most full-length novels.
The plot was tight, I cared about the characters and I adored Lilith’s autistically-coded neurodiverse rep, which added layers you don’t often find in shorter reads.
I hope to see more of Lilith and Vale in Six Scorched Roses in future books of this series because I’m smitten!

Yes, Six Scorched Roses is part of the Crowns of Nyaxia series, but it stands perfectly well on its own. While not essential to enjoy The Serpent and the Wings of Night or its sequel, The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King, it offers a rich, standalone tale that complements the series beautifully.

Yes you can, if that’s what you want to do, and if, for example, you wanted to get a taste of the Crowns of Nyaxia world without committing to a whole series.
